Finding your way can be overwhelming. I’m here to help.

Below, you will find information to help you traverse the expansive landscape of learning how to best care for yourself.

Collectively we can deepen our understanding to find the solutions that work.

Clinical Resources

The resources are provided for non-life threatening emergencies and educational purposes. I cannot attest to the quality of the services below, but hope that they can be helpful to anyone exploring other options to manage their mental health.

General Mental Health Hotlines

Low Cost or Sliding Scale Therapy (National)

  • NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, 8-session educational program for family, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. It is a designated evidenced-based program.

  • NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free, eight-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery.

  • Federally funded health centers can also be a good resource for those without health insurance or with a limited budget. Many of these centers include mental health services. Find a federally funded health center near you.

  • Open Path Collective provides clients with a list of low cost (sliding scale) therapists.

Helpful Terms

  • A mobile crisis team is a group of mental health professionals who are available to respond to calls for service at the request of law enforcement officers.

The mobile crisis team’s goal is to divert individuals from unnecessary jail bookings and/or emergency room visits. These teams are not available 24/7, so please call 9-1-1 outside of their working hours.

  • Priced by each person’s income and dependents.

  • Out of Network implies that the therapist is not “in-network” with your insurance company.

Based on your specific plan, or how much you have spent on healthcare expenses otherwise, the insurance company will pay you money back after your sessions to help your work with your therapist become more affordable for you.

  • The therapist is in your insurance company’s database, or they have applied and been “approved” by your insurance company.

You will owe a “co-pay” at the time of your session. This can range between $15-85 (sometimes even more or even less). Your insurance company will pay your therapist the rest of what the insurance company deems a reasonable rate for the service provided.

Mobile Mental Health

I have worked with the National Center for PTSD for years. Through government funding, the center’s excellent team of psychologists and other mental health professionals have created apps that are free for the public.

These are NOT replacements for therapy. Rather, they are best used when working through issues while finding a therapist your trust OR after you have already completed therapy and want to maintain your gains.

All of the apps are created by and tested by psychologists. This means that there is a higher standard for information. These are well-researched apps that do not sell your data or try to sell you anything!

Because this is government funded, I do not financially benefit from you using these apps. Therefore, you have nothing to lose and only your mental health to gain.

  • Insomnia Coach is designed to be used daily for 5 weeks by following the Training Plan. After that, you can continue using the app to track your sleep and maintain good sleep habits.

  • This app is designed for partners who want to improve their relationship and explore new ways to connect.

  • This app was designed as a general wellness app to help people managing the stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • This app provides users with education about PTSD, information about professional care, a self-assessment for PTSD, opportunities to find support, and tools that can help users manage the stresses of daily life with PTSD.

  • PTSD Family Coach is a free and publicly available mobile app for family members of people with posttraumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.

  • VetChange is a mobile app that can help users with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) build skills to reduce problem drinking.
